Education system in Australia
Education in Australia is the responsibility of states and territory government. Each state or territory government provides the funding to the public and private schools. The federal government funds the universities, but they set their own curriculum. Generally, education in Australia follows the three-level model which includes primary education , followed by secondary education and tertiary education .
The academic session starts from January or early February till December for primary and secondary schools. The pre-school is not compulsory and it is different from primary school. The system varies from territory to territory.
Every state government manages its own education system i.e. they provide funds for schools. Both public and private schools exists, with a facility that education in public school is free of cost while in private school you need to pay.
Since the government provides funds, they also set the curriculum for the course. The national government provides funding for universities. Almost all universities provide distance learning program.
English is the official language of Australia and used as language of instruction. Higher education comprises of degree courses which includes Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and post graduate degree which have time duration of two to four years of duration. There are numerous courses being offered by bachelor’s program of Australia and also master’s program.
