GRE Test Structure and score evaluation
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is also a Computer Adaptive test (CAT), which is adaptive according to the capabilities of the student. The complexity of each GRE questions asked in the CAT will depend on the correctness of your answers given for all previous questions. It is the computer system which will adapt your style of answering questions according to your performance in the previous questions. Hence, the GRE exam is known as computer adaptive test.
GRE test lasting for three hours mainly comprises of three sections: GRE Verbal Reasoning, GRE Quantitative Reasoning and GRE Analytical Writing. There is an additional section known as experimental section lasting for 30 minutes, however the score for this section is considered in the overall score card. The final score includes just first three section of the GRE examination.
GRE Verbal Reasoning Section measures the ability of the student to analyze and estimate the written records and produce the information obtained from it. It analyzes the student capabilities to recognize the relation between words and concepts and analyze the relationships among the parts of sentences. This section has total 29 questions to be answered in 30 minutes.
GRE Quantitative Reasoning Section measures the conceptual ability of algebra, arithmetic, geometry and data analysis of the student. It measures the quantitative reasoning abilities and problem solving abilities of the student. This section has total 28 questions to be answered in 45 minutes.
In GRE Analytical Reasoning Section measures the ability of the student to formulate ideas effectively and clearly. It measures the ability of problem solving with reasons and examples and scrutinizing the claims along with evidences. This section maintains well-focused and lucid discussion along with controlling the elements of Standard English writing abilities of the student. This section has to be attempted in 75 minutes.
The experimental section of GRE test can be either math section or verbal section. This section can be unreasonably difficult. Hence, if you perform badly on a particular section, you can a chance to recover your performance in the experimental section. So, do not allow a difficult section to depress your performance on the rest of the GRE Test. This section has to be answered in 30 minutes.

The total duration of GRE Test is approximately three hours. However, only two and half hours of the test count toward your score; the experimental section is not scored in your GRE test.
Score Evaluation of GRE test
The GRE Score evaluation supplement your academic records of under graduate education, extracurricular activities and all other qualifications to indicate the students ability to complete higher studies in particular course. Basically, GRE is an aptitude test like all other aptitude tests because it measures the potential to get success of a student during their course of graduation in USA.
The GRE test measures the analytic skills and intellectual ability which you have gained during the time of your high school and college days. Math and English are the main subjects that GRE deals with.
ETS provide a facility to the student to report their GRE scores in maximum of four universities. The cost of reporting your GRE score to these universities are already included in your GRE fees. Hence, the student has to select four universities of your GRE score to be sent after your GRE test. ETS charges extra USD $13 for each reporting of your score to the additional university of your choice. This additional cost should be payable by a dollar denominated draft or an international credit card.
